This is a Foreign Books Library. I use two adjective words which is curious and persuasive in his project. There are different
foreign language dictionaries and different poetry in this library. The main idea of this project came from Alvar Aalto’s design which is Apartment House, Bremen. As that project, I use a lot of diagonal lines to meet the corner of Mason Street. These lines radiate to the Columbus Ave. The shape of this building is hierarchy style, because the main entry is the highest area and also it controls these radiated shapes. The circulation has a same function because this is the brightest space in this library. When people come in, they will have very special feeling from the outside. There is a compressive transition space that creates a secret feeling of darkness from the entrance. On the contrary, they feel as if they are assorted in a new area. This area of first floor gives people a sense of discovery and exploration. When people stand on the second floor, they can see the whole things on the lower level. Keep moving your eyes go far away, you can see a close connection between
landscape and building. The outside of back door has a way lead to a depot.
