Land Mark High-rise

Design

This project is a symbol of the Yangtze River, split in two by the city  of Chongqing, forming a spire and a totem of the point of the isthmus. This 5,829,278 square foot tower is split into two primary functions- work and leisure.  The work functions are set into a glass tower symbolizing the working nature of the rivers. The leisure functions are set into a “rock-fall” that cascades from spire to base. Intermediary mid-tower spas bridge the two towers. The Yangtze also has a dark side and a blue side which the city of Chongqing defines. The blue side is the “leisure” side and the stone tower sits facing this river.  Likewise the glass tower  faces the brown “work-river”.  In both case there is the beginning of a Parametric play of cascading and falling . The water tower falls to its base and into the Yangtze, just as the stone tower cascades into its base and the Yangtze. This is the diagonal glazing systems you see defining the project. The projects is also classically “yin-yang” with the primordial forces interplaying with each other, much as they do in any city. The two towers exemplify the two rivers which crystallize the two cities- work and leisure- and make them one.
